UPS Tracking

Track UPS packages for domestic and international delivery, with shipment creation, pickup and drop-off services across confirmed UPS markets.

Track UPS packages

UPS

UPS is an international parcel shipping and logistics provider offering services for individuals, online sellers and businesses that need to send packages domestically or across borders. In supported markets, customers can create shipments, prepare shipping labels, arrange collection or hand packages over at UPS locations and follow their movement through UPS Tracking.

UPS offers different delivery options according to destination, urgency and shipment type. Its service portfolio includes economical day-definite shipping as well as express services for time-sensitive packages. International options include UPS Worldwide Express Plus, UPS Worldwide Express, UPS Worldwide Saver, UPS Worldwide Expedited and UPS Standard, although the exact services available depend on the origin and destination.

Current UPS shipping and local-service pages confirm originating shipment, pickup, drop-off or local delivery operations across numerous markets in the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. These include the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, many European Union countries and the United Kingdom, as well as China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and other confirmed markets. UPS also has country and territory pages beyond this conservative set, but a market should not be assumed to provide local shipment handover simply because UPS can deliver an international package there.

UPS combines its transportation network with digital shipment-management tools. Customers can use package tracking to see movement scans and estimated delivery information, while UPS My Choice is available in supported markets for additional visibility and delivery-management options such as notifications, changing an eligible delivery date or location, redirecting a parcel or requesting collection from a UPS Access Point.

How to track UPS packages

To Track a UPS shipment with 4Tracking, enter the UPS tracking number supplied by the sender, retailer or marketplace into the tracking field on this page. 4Tracking is a universal package tracking website, making it useful when you manage shipments from UPS alongside packages carried by other postal and express companies.

You can also Track the shipment directly through UPS. UPS Tracking records package movement as scans are captured throughout the network. Common official statuses include Label Created, Shipped/On the Way, Out for Delivery, Delivered, Delivered to a UPS Access Point and Exception. The exact statuses shown can differ according to the shipment and market.

A Label Created status means UPS has received shipment and billing information from the sender but does not yet indicate that UPS physically possesses the package. Shipped/On the Way means UPS has received it and it is moving through the network. Long-distance shipments can remain in this status for some time because another scan may not occur until the package reaches its next destination hub.

UPS tracking number formats

UPS officially documents several tracking-number formats rather than one pattern for every shipment. The most recognizable UPS format is represented by the carrier as 1Z9999999999999999. UPS also lists 999999999999, a 12-digit numeric format; T9999999999, consisting of the letter T followed by 10 digits; and 999999999, a 9-digit numeric format.

UPS can additionally Track certain shipment identifiers containing between seven and 20 characters. Official examples of the identifier types include Delivery Order or Sub-PRO numbers for freight shipments, House Air Waybills for air freight, House Bills of Lading for ocean freight and PRO numbers for surface freight. A UPS Delivery Notice or UPS InfoNotice used after an attempted delivery can also contain a reference number that helps identify the shipment.

UPS Mail Innovations tracking numbers

UPS Mail Innovations uses additional formats that differ from normal small-package UPS numbers. UPS documents USPS Delivery Confirmation identifiers containing 22 to 34 digits, internally assigned 18-digit Sequence Numbers, also called MMS or MMI numbers, and Mail Innovations Compliant Package IDs represented in the structure MIXXXXXXNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. These formats apply specifically to UPS Mail Innovations and should not be treated as the standard format for ordinary UPS packages.

UPS delivery times

UPS delivery time depends on the origin, destination and selected service. Customs clearance, weekends, holidays, weather and other transportation conditions can also affect an international shipment. The scheduled or estimated delivery date displayed in Tracking is therefore more useful for a particular package than applying one general transit time to every UPS shipment.

UPS Worldwide Express delivery example

UPS currently describes its Worldwide Express family as offering international delivery in approximately 1-3 business days on supported routes. UPS Worldwide Express Plus is typically delivered early in the morning, while UPS Worldwide Express is commonly delivered by late morning or noon. Exact delivery commitments depend on the service, origin and destination.

UPS Worldwide Saver delivery example

UPS Worldwide Saver is also positioned within the 1-3 business day international range on supported routes, with delivery typically by the end of the business day. Availability and the exact committed date vary by route.

UPS Worldwide Expedited delivery example

For international shipments that are important but less time-critical, UPS Worldwide Expedited has an official reference transit time of 2-5 business days, generally with delivery by the end of the day.

UPS Standard delivery example

UPS lists Standard international shipping at approximately 2-7 business days on supported routes. It is a day-definite service rather than an express option with the same early-morning delivery commitments as UPS Express products.

UPS domestic Express examples

Domestic timings differ by country. For example, UPS currently describes several domestic services in Spain as next-business-day options: UPS Express Saver delivers during the day, UPS Express normally delivers by 10:30 or 12:00, and UPS Express Plus typically delivers early in the business day around 8:30 or 9:00. These Spain-specific examples should not be assumed to apply unchanged in every UPS market.

How to contact UPS about shipment issues

For most package problems, start by checking the latest Tracking details because UPS may already show a new delivery date, an Exception explanation, a delivery attempt or a UPS Access Point location. If you bought something from an online shop and the package is lost or marked delivered but cannot be found, contacting the seller is also important because UPS specifically directs recipients in some situations to ask the seller to begin the claim process.

UPS customer-service telephone numbers and opening hours are country-specific, so the safest option is to open the Contact Us section on the official UPS website for the country where the shipment is being handled. For example, UPS currently lists 1-800-742-5877 for US customer service and 1-800-782-7892 for US international shipping support. These numbers are US contacts and should not be treated as worldwide support numbers.

As another local example, UPS Spain currently lists customer support at 91 745 64 00 and international callers can use +34 91 745 64 00. Its English-language contact page also lists custsvcesen@ups.com. Contact information can differ significantly between countries, so recipients elsewhere should use their own UPS country page instead of contacting another market's support center.

UPS also provides an online claims process for lost or damaged packages in supported markets. A tracking number is required to begin a claim, and UPS advises customers to keep invoices that can prove the package value. For damage claims, retain the shipment contents and packaging. Claim rules and deadlines vary according to the shipper's country of origin.

Frequently asked questions about UPS package tracking issues

Why does my UPS tracking say Label Created?

Label Created means the sender has transmitted shipment details and billing information to UPS. It does not necessarily mean UPS has physically received the package. Tracking should update after UPS takes possession of the shipment and it begins moving through the network.

Why has my UPS Tracking not updated for several days?

A lack of new scans does not automatically mean a package is lost. UPS explains that shipments traveling long distances may remain under Shipped/On the Way until they reach the next destination hub. International customs processing and transportation between facilities can also create gaps between visible Tracking events.

What does UPS Exception mean?

An Exception means the shipment is still within the UPS network but an unexpected event may change its scheduled delivery date. UPS normally provides the reason in the Shipment Progress section, and Tracking can display a revised date when one becomes available.

What does Out for Delivery mean with UPS?

Out for Delivery means the local UPS facility has received the package and dispatched it with a driver for final delivery. Delivery timing varies by location and service, so an Out for Delivery scan does not by itself guarantee an exact arrival hour unless the shipment uses an applicable time-definite service.

Why does UPS show Delivered when I cannot find my package?

Check exterior doors, porches, garages, reception areas, household members and neighbors who may have accepted the package. In markets where delivery photos are available, check UPS Tracking for an image showing where the driver left it. If you still cannot locate the parcel, UPS recommends contacting the seller to begin a claim where applicable.

Can I change the delivery of a UPS package?

Eligible shipments can sometimes be changed through UPS Tracking or UPS My Choice. Available options can include changing the delivery date or location, redirecting the package, holding it for collection or sending it to a UPS Access Point. The sender can restrict delivery changes, and certain packages may not be eligible.

Can I Track a UPS package using an InfoNotice number?

Yes. In supported countries, the UPS InfoNotice or Delivery Notice left after an unsuccessful delivery attempt contains a reference number that can be used to check the package's latest status and, where allowed, request delivery changes.

What should I do if my UPS tracking number is not recognized?

Copy the number exactly as supplied by the sender and make sure you are using the shipping tracking number rather than an order or invoice number. UPS supports several tracking formats, so do not add or remove characters to make the number resemble a 1Z format. If 4Tracking and UPS both cannot identify it, ask the sender to verify the tracking number and confirm that the shipment was actually created with UPS.
