Belgium Post - Bpost

Bpost is Belgium's postal and parcel carrier, providing delivery services for individuals, online shoppers and businesses across Belgium. Its network handles parcels, letters and registered mail, with services designed for home delivery as well as convenient collection and drop-off.

For parcels sent within Belgium, Bpost offers delivery to residential or work addresses and a large network of Pick-up Points and Bbox Parcel Lockers. Senders can create shipping labels online or through the My bpost app and hand parcels in at Post Offices, Post Points, Parcel Points, lockers or other supported drop-off locations.

Recipients can use Bpost delivery preferences to choose alternatives when they are not at home, including delivery to a Pick-up Point, Parcel Locker, safe place or neighbour. Depending on the shipment, some delivery preferences can also be changed while the parcel is already on its way.

Bpost also accepts international parcels sent from Belgium. However, Bpost's verified local operating network is in Belgium; when an international parcel crosses the border, delivery can be handled by the postal operator or delivery partner in the destination country. Tracking information outside Belgium therefore depends on updates received from that foreign operator.

How to Track Bpost shipments

To Track a Bpost package with 4Tracking, enter the shipment's Bpost barcode or tracking number in the tracking field and start the search. 4Tracking can then display available package tracking events as the shipment moves through the delivery process. You can also use Bpost's official Track & Trace service or the My bpost app.

Bpost Tracking normally becomes available after Bpost physically receives the shipment. A sender may provide a barcode before handing over the parcel, so a newly created number can temporarily show no tracking events. Once the parcel enters the Bpost network and is scanned, its Tracking history should begin to appear.

You can usually find the barcode on the shipping label, shipping or Post Office receipt, failed-delivery notice, confirmation email, or information sent by the sender. Ordinary letters and cards without a unique barcode cannot be followed through Bpost Track & Trace.

Bpost tracking number formats

Bpost uses several barcode formats, so not every package tracking number looks the same. Official Bpost documentation lists common parcel barcodes including 24-digit numbers beginning with 3299 or 3232, such as 329998745632147852365873, and 18-digit numbers beginning with 3232, such as 323256984521032569.

Another common format contains 13 characters, starts with two letters such as CE, EE, CD or CZ, and ends with two letters. An official example is EE123456789BE. Bpost also documents 27-character parcel barcodes beginning with JJBEA, for example JJBEA2356412012365478896541.

Registered mail uses additional formats. National registered mail can use a 30-digit barcode beginning with 010, such as 010541288500452621221234567890. International registered mail can use a 13-character code beginning with R, such as RA123456789FR.

A barcode beginning with the letter U is different: Bpost states that these codes are created for customs processing and do not provide Track & Trace. Such shipments are handled without normal shipment tracking after customs clearance.

Bpost delivery times

For parcels sent within Belgium, Bpost states that after receiving the parcel from the sender it aims to deliver it on the next working day. For example, a domestic parcel accepted by Bpost on a Monday would normally be targeted for delivery on Tuesday when both days are normal working days. This is a delivery target rather than an absolute guarantee, and the date or time slot shown in Tracking should be treated as an indication.

Weekend delivery is available in certain situations depending on the shipment, sender and delivery address. Some parcels may be delivered to a Pick-up Point or Parcel Locker on Saturday, while certain senders have arrangements that allow home delivery on Saturday or Sunday. Letters and registered mail are normally delivered on weekdays.

For Bpost Standard international parcels sent from Belgium, official guidance gives an indicative transit period of approximately 2 to 10 working days, depending on the destination. Customs processing is not included in this estimate. Once a parcel is outside Belgium, delivery and Tracking updates can also depend on the foreign postal operator handling the destination leg.

How to contact Bpost about shipment issues

Before reporting a delayed parcel, check the latest package tracking status and confirm whether the shipment has actually been handed over to Bpost. If Tracking says the parcel was delivered but you cannot find it, Bpost recommends checking whether a neighbour or another household member accepted it, whether a small parcel was placed in the letterbox, whether it was left according to your delivery preferences, or whether a delivery notice was left.

Recipients should generally contact the sender when a parcel is lost, damaged or has not been delivered. Bpost explains that the sender normally has the contractual relationship for the shipment and is the party that can submit a complaint or request an investigation. For damaged parcels, contact the sender promptly because Bpost applies specific complaint deadlines, including a seven-calendar-day period in relevant damage cases.

Senders can use the problem or complaint forms available on the official Bpost website. Bpost Customer Service can also be reached at +32 2 278 51 26. Published customer-service hours are Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 12:30 and 13:00 to 18:00, and Saturday from 09:00 to 13:00.

Frequently asked questions about Bpost package tracking issues

Why is my Bpost tracking number not working yet?

The sender may have created the barcode before handing the package to Bpost. Bpost Tracking normally starts after the shipment is physically received and scanned into its network. Try tracking it again after the first acceptance scan.

Where can I find my Bpost tracking number?

Look on the shipping label, Post Office or shipping receipt, failed-delivery notice, confirmation email, or shipment information provided by the sender. Bpost refers to this identifier as the parcel barcode.

Why can't I Track a Bpost code beginning with U?

Bpost states that barcodes beginning with U are used for customs purposes and are not Track & Trace barcodes. These shipments therefore do not provide normal end-to-end Tracking.

My Bpost Tracking says delivered, but I have no package. What should I do?

Check with neighbours and other household members, your letterbox, your selected safe place or Pick-up Point, and any delivery notice. If the parcel still cannot be found, contact the sender so the sender can follow Bpost's complaint or investigation procedure.

How long should a Bpost parcel take within Belgium?

After Bpost receives a domestic parcel, it aims to deliver it on the next working day. Tracking dates and delivery time slots are estimates and can change if the shipment encounters operational delays.

How long does a Bpost international parcel take?

Bpost gives an indicative period of 2 to 10 working days for Standard international parcels, depending on the destination. Customs time is excluded, and the foreign delivery operator may affect both the final delivery time and Tracking updates.

Can I Track ordinary letters with Bpost?

Not normally. Standard letters and cards do not have the unique barcode required for online Track & Trace. Barcoded items such as parcels and registered mail can be followed when their service includes Tracking.
