Track TNT Express packages

TNT Express

TNT Express is an international courier and express-delivery carrier serving businesses and individuals across Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. TNT companies are part of FedEx, while the TNT brand and its shipping tools continue to be used in a number of markets. The carrier handles time-sensitive documents, packages, pallets and freight through domestic and international transport networks.

TNT's main shipping options include Express and Economy Express. Express is designed for urgent shipments and provides door-to-door delivery with time-definite options where available, while Economy Express is intended for less urgent packages and freight where customers want to balance delivery speed and cost. TNT also provides online Tracking and basic customs-clearance support with these services.

For shipments that do not fit standard courier requirements, TNT offers special and freight solutions. These include Time Critical services, dedicated vehicles, onboard couriers, air freight and other tailored transport for urgent, valuable, temperature-sensitive, large or heavy shipments. Availability depends on the origin, destination, shipment characteristics and local TNT operation.

TNT also provides import services that allow eligible customers to arrange collections abroad and manage inbound shipments. Service combinations differ between countries and individual routes, so a service available in one TNT market may not be offered with the same delivery time or options elsewhere. Checking the exact origin and destination with TNT is therefore important when booking an international shipment.

How TNT Express shipment tracking works

Every TNT shipment prepared with a consignment note receives a TNT consignment number that acts as the permanent reference for that shipment. The number is used to Track its progress from collection through the TNT network and ultimately to delivery. Tracking information can show the current shipment status and, when available, delivery information such as whether the shipment was delivered and who signed for it.

To Track TNT Express packages with 4Tracking, enter the TNT shipment or consignment number in the tracking field and start the search. 4Tracking can automatically identify TNT in many cases, or you can manually select TNT Express when necessary. This makes it convenient to follow TNT package tracking alongside shipments handled by other carriers in one place.

You can also use TNT's official Track & Trace service. TNT provides tracking by shipment number and, on supported TNT tools, by customer reference. If the sender has only recently created the shipment, tracking information may not appear immediately because the shipment first needs to be registered in TNT's systems.

TNT Express tracking number formats

TNT's official support information describes the standard shipment number, also called a consignment number or waybill number, as a 9-digit number. TNT's Track & Trace pages show 123456789 as an example of the expected shipment-number format. The number can normally be found on the consignment documentation, shipping confirmation or invoice associated with the shipment.

Some country-specific TNT guidance also refers to eight- or nine-digit numbers being used for package tracking. For this reason, you should use the complete identifier supplied by TNT or the sender rather than adding digits or attempting to construct a TNT number yourself.

TNT also allows a customer reference to be entered for tracking in some of its official tools. Its consignment-note guidance states that a shipper can enter an internal customer reference of up to 24 characters and use that reference for Tracking on TNT's website. However, when using a universal tracking service such as 4Tracking, the TNT consignment number is generally the most appropriate identifier to enter.

Can TNT tracking numbers be reused?

TNT's official UK tracking guidance states that eight- or nine-digit tracking numbers can be reused after a period of time because of the large number of shipments processed. If an older number displays more than one possible shipment, TNT advises identifying the correct shipment using details such as the shipment date, origin and destination.

TNT Express delivery times

TNT does not publish one delivery time that applies to every package worldwide. Transit time depends on the service selected, collection and delivery addresses, booking and collection cut-off times, shipment characteristics and local service availability.

For eligible Express shipments, TNT describes delivery as taking place on the next possible business day. Depending on the route, time-definite Express options can include delivery before 09:00, 10:00 or 12:00, while the standard Express option can provide delivery before the close of business, shown by TNT as 18:00 in its general service schedule.

For example, when 9:00 Express is available for a particular origin and destination, an eligible shipment collected within the applicable booking conditions can be scheduled for delivery before 09:00 on the next possible working day. If the shipment uses standard Express instead, the applicable service may target delivery before 18:00 on the next possible business day. These examples describe TNT service levels and should not be interpreted as guarantees for routes where those services are unavailable.

Economy Express is intended for less urgent packages and freight. TNT's general service information describes Economy Express delivery as starting from two business days, with delivery by 12:00 or 18:00 available on applicable services. TNT also offers day-definite Economy Express products, meaning the shipment is scheduled for a specified business day rather than simply being sent as quickly as possible.

As another supported example, 12:00 Economy Express is designed for qualifying parcels and freight that need delivery before noon on a specified working day, particularly on supported European routes. Standard Economy Express provides delivery on a specified business day without requiring the faster morning deadline. Always check TNT's current quote and transit-time information for the exact origin and destination before relying on a particular delivery date.

Why TNT Express Tracking may not update immediately

A TNT package may not become visible as soon as the sender gives you its tracking number. TNT states on its official tracking guidance that a newly created shipment can take some time to appear in the system. If the number was issued very recently, try Tracking it again after the shipment has been processed.

Tracking can also remain unchanged while a package is moving between TNT facilities or between countries. An international shipment may additionally be affected by customs processing, local operating schedules or another stage of the transport process before the next Tracking event is registered.

If a TNT shipment number returns information that does not appear to belong to your package, compare the shipment date, origin and destination with your order. This can be particularly useful with older TNT numbers because TNT has stated that some shipment-number sequences are eventually reused.

How to contact TNT Express about shipment issues

If package tracking does not explain where your shipment is, use the Contact or Help section of the official TNT website for the country where your shipment is being handled. TNT publishes country-specific customer-service options because telephone numbers, opening hours and available support channels differ between markets.

TNT's official contact system provides an online customer-service form where you can enter information such as your name, email address, telephone number, account number when applicable and the TNT shipment number. Supplying the complete consignment number and a clear explanation of the issue helps support identify the shipment.

Local TNT support pages may also provide telephone assistance, redelivery tools, depot information and dedicated forms for missing, delayed or damaged shipments. If delivery was attempted, keep any card or notification left by the driver because TNT may request information from it when arranging redelivery.

For a damaged or lost shipment, follow the claims instructions for the relevant TNT country rather than relying only on package tracking. Claim procedures and required documentation can vary, and TNT directs customers to its official customer-service or claims forms for these cases.

Frequently asked questions about TNT Express package tracking issues

Why is my TNT Express tracking number not working?

First check that the shipment number was copied correctly. TNT normally describes its standard consignment number as nine digits, although some country-specific tracking guidance refers to eight- or nine-digit numbers. If the shipment was only recently created, it may also need some time before it becomes visible in the tracking system.

What does a TNT Express tracking number look like?

TNT's official Track & Trace service displays 123456789 as an example shipment number, and its support information describes the normal consignment or waybill number as a 9-digit identifier. Use the exact number supplied on your shipment documentation rather than trying to generate one yourself.

Where can I find my TNT consignment number?

The consignment number is printed on the TNT consignment note and is associated with the shipment throughout its journey. Senders may also find it in their TNT shipping records or invoice, while recipients commonly receive it from the sender, retailer or business that arranged the shipment.

Can I Track TNT Express using a customer reference?

TNT supports customer-reference tracking through some of its official tools. TNT's consignment documentation allows the sender to enter an internal customer reference of up to 24 characters. For package tracking through 4Tracking, use the TNT shipment or consignment number when it is available.

How long does TNT Express delivery take?

For eligible routes, TNT Express is designed for delivery on the next possible business day, with 09:00, 10:00, 12:00 and end-of-business options available depending on the market and route. Economy Express generally starts from two business days and can provide delivery on a specified business day. The actual transit time must be checked for the specific collection and delivery addresses.

Why has my TNT package stopped updating?

A shipment can continue moving without producing a new visible event at every stage. International transport, customs processing and movement between facilities can also create gaps between Tracking updates. If the status remains unchanged longer than expected for the booked service, contact TNT customer service with the consignment number.

Can I rearrange a missed TNT delivery?

Where the local TNT service supports redelivery, a recipient who received a missed-delivery card can use TNT's redelivery service. If no card was provided, TNT advises contacting customer service and supplying the consignment number and delivery address. Exact redelivery options depend on the country.

What should I do if TNT says my package was delivered but I cannot find it?

Check the TNT Tracking result for available delivery or proof-of-delivery information and confirm whether someone at the delivery address accepted the shipment. TNT's tracking tools can provide delivery information and, for supported shipments, proof-of-delivery details. If you still cannot locate the package, contact the local TNT customer-service team with the consignment number.

What should I do if my TNT Express package is lost or damaged?

Contact TNT through the official support channel for the country handling your shipment and follow its claims process. Keep the tracking number, shipping documents and any evidence of damage, since the information required to investigate or submit a claim can depend on the shipment and local TNT operation.
