Track ELTA packages

ELTA

ELTA, also known as Hellenic Post or Ελληνικά Ταχυδρομεία, is Greece's national postal operator and provides postal services throughout the country. Its network handles letters, parcels and other postal items for individuals and businesses, with services ranging from ordinary mail to registered and trackable shipments.

ELTA's postal services include domestic parcels, registered correspondence, trackable mail and international postal shipments originating from or arriving in Greece. Its official digital systems also allow customers to prepare domestic and international shipping labels, while selected postal products can be followed through the ELTA Track & Trace system.

For domestic customers, ELTA also supports alternative delivery and collection arrangements for applicable items. Official shipping documentation describes delivery through postal branches, post-office boxes and PostBox automated lockers for eligible shipments. ELTA additionally offers digital postage through its e-Stamp service, although ordinary mail sent with that product is specifically described as non-trackable and should not be confused with a package tracking service.

ELTA's confirmed operating country is Greece. International postal items can travel between Greece and other countries, but delivery outside Greece may involve the postal operator or logistics provider serving the destination. Those partner networks should not be interpreted as countries where ELTA itself has confirmed operations.

How to Track ELTA packages

To Track an ELTA package on 4Tracking, enter the shipment's tracking number in the tracking field. 4Tracking can identify supported carriers automatically in many cases, or you can manually select ELTA when needed. The results page then displays the available Tracking events so you can follow the package through processing, transportation and delivery.

ELTA also operates its own official Track an Item service. Customers enter the postal tracking number and request the item's history. The official system accepts up to five tracking numbers at once when they are separated by commas.

ELTA states that an item's Tracking history remains available through its official tracking service for six months from the shipment date. If you need a shipment record for a claim or other important purpose, it is still sensible to keep your receipt and tracking number rather than relying indefinitely on the online history.

Why can international ELTA Tracking include another postal operator?

ELTA operates in Greece, but an international shipment may need to be transferred to another postal administration or transport provider to continue toward its destination. Tracking can therefore contain events from different stages of the journey. For incoming international parcels, ELTA handles the item after it enters the Greek postal network, while outgoing items can later be handled by the postal service in the destination country.

ELTA tracking number formats

ELTA provides a clear format for numbers accepted by its official Track an Item system. The standard tracking number contains 13 characters: two Latin letters, followed by nine digits, followed by two Latin letters. ELTA gives PP123456785GR as an official example of this structure.

For items whose identifier was issued in Greece, the final two letters can appear as GR. ELTA's domestic web-labeling documentation also identifies service-specific barcode prefixes. For example, registered Priority and Economy items are described with the prefix RE, while certain Priority items with tracking use an LL prefix. These prefixes relate to specific ELTA postal products and should not be treated as an exhaustive list of every identifier that can appear in the network.

ELTA also documents an exception for certain items originating in Germany. Instead of the normal 13-character format, some of these shipments may carry a 12-digit numeric barcode. This is an officially recognized exception, so a fully numeric number should not automatically be rejected when the shipment originated in Germany.

Is every ELTA postal item trackable?

No. Tracking depends on the postal service selected. ELTA's own e-Stamp documentation, for example, states that ordinary domestic Priority correspondence paid with the digital stamp is neither registered nor trackable. To use package tracking, the shipment must have been sent with a service that generates a trackable postal identifier.

ELTA delivery times

ELTA's Consumer Charter states that domestic parcels are generally delivered in three working days, expressed as X+3 from the posting date. These published times are indicative rather than a guarantee that every package will arrive on exactly the same day, because the route and circumstances affecting transportation can vary.

Official ELTA web-labeling documentation gives additional examples for domestic trackable correspondence. Registered Priority items are listed with a delivery time of three working days, while Registered Economy items are listed at three to five working days. Priority items with Tracking are also listed at three working days.

For outgoing international Priority letter-post items, ELTA's Consumer Charter gives an indicative time of three working days for European Union destinations and three to five days for destinations elsewhere in the world. These figures concern the stated postal category and should not be applied automatically to every parcel or international product. Economy timing depends in part on the processing standards used in the destination country.

International timing can also become more variable after an item leaves Greece because ELTA transfers postal items into international transport and destination postal networks. Customs procedures, transportation connections and processing by the destination operator can all affect final delivery. The latest Tracking events are therefore more useful than applying a generic transit estimate to every international shipment.

How to contact ELTA about shipment issues

If an ELTA package is delayed, missing or showing an unusual Tracking event, have the complete 13-character tracking number or other valid shipment identifier ready before contacting customer service. ELTA lists 800-11-82000 for calls from a landline and 212-0000-800 for calls from a mobile phone. Customer service operates Monday through Friday from 08:00 to 18:00.

ELTA also lists service@elta-net.gr as its customer-service email address. Its postal customer-service address is ELTA Customer Service, Adrianoupoleos 45, 16070 Kessariani, Greece. Including the tracking number, sender and recipient details, posting date and latest Tracking event can make it easier for support staff to identify the shipment.

For problems involving loss, damage or tampering, ELTA's Consumer Charter contains procedures and compensation rules for eligible postal products. Because responsibility and compensation depend on the service used and circumstances of the shipment, contact ELTA with the original posting receipt and shipment details instead of assuming that every untracked or delayed item qualifies for the same claim process.

Frequently asked questions about ELTA package tracking issues

How can I Track an ELTA package on 4Tracking?

Enter the ELTA tracking number into the tracking field on 4Tracking. The system can attempt to identify ELTA automatically, or you can select the carrier manually and view the available package tracking events.

What does an ELTA tracking number look like?

ELTA's official tracking system states that the standard format contains 13 characters: two Latin letters, nine digits and two final Latin letters. PP123456785GR is the example provided by ELTA. Some German-origin items are an official exception and may instead have a 12-digit numeric barcode.

Why is my ELTA tracking number not working?

First confirm that all letters and digits were entered correctly. If the shipment was posted very recently, its first Tracking event may not yet be visible. Also make sure that the postal product actually includes tracking, because ordinary ELTA correspondence is not necessarily trackable.

How long does ELTA keep Tracking history online?

ELTA states that the tracking history of an item is available through its Track an Item system for six months from the shipment date. Keep the original postal receipt if you may need shipment information later.

How long does an ELTA package take within Greece?

ELTA's Consumer Charter states that domestic parcels are generally delivered in three working days, or X+3. This is an indicative service standard and should not be interpreted as an unconditional guarantee for every shipment or destination.

Why has my ELTA package stopped updating?

A package may travel between postal facilities or transport stages without receiving a public scan at every point. International shipments can also have gaps while moving between ELTA and a foreign postal operator or while undergoing customs procedures. Check the latest event again later and contact ELTA if the shipment remains delayed beyond the expected service time.

Why does my ELTA Tracking show another country's postal operator?

International postal delivery commonly involves more than one national postal service. ELTA handles its part of the postal journey in Greece, while another operator may handle transportation or delivery abroad. This does not mean that ELTA itself operates in that destination country.

Can I Track ordinary ELTA mail?

Only if the chosen service includes Tracking. ELTA specifically states that its ordinary domestic Priority correspondence using an e-Stamp is not trackable. Registered and designated trackable products use barcodes that can be searched through the ELTA Track & Trace system.

What should I do if my ELTA package is missing or damaged?

Keep the shipment receipt and tracking number and contact ELTA Customer Service at 800-11-82000 from a landline, 212-0000-800 from a mobile phone or service@elta-net.gr. Explain the issue and provide the shipment details so ELTA can determine what investigation or claim procedure applies to the postal service used.

Can 4Tracking change the delivery address or investigate an ELTA package?

No. 4Tracking provides package tracking information but does not transport ELTA shipments or control their delivery. Address changes, missing-item investigations, compensation requests and other shipment actions must be handled directly with ELTA or, when relevant, the sender.
